First encounter with the Big Blue

We had never met. We lived close enough to the water for me to know what it was, what it looked like, and how far I had to run in order to reach it. My father wasn't one of those types who would take me to the beach when I was younger. I think my father was actually afraid of the sea. Too many sea storm and giant squid stories, I guess.

Either way, my first day at the SS Matate was not a pleasant one. Actually, getting on board was not pleasant. It all started when I was running away. I grabbed some of my father's clothing, which I meant to neatly put next to his grave along with my locket with my mother's picture. That's when my home was invaded, and I just had to run off. I had to change in an alleyway. When I got to the port, I was just looking around at first. I had also never been to the port before. It was really very pretty and lively. I traded my dress, at the port, for a pair of boots.

I had asked around. Tried to get on a few boats, but most were merchant ships that weren't going to let me in or passenger ships making a pit stop. I walked into a bar, feeling completely hopeless. When this young man completely drunk out of his mind buys me a beer. I forgot I was dressed as a man (mostly because he told me I was pretty) and nearly slapped him. But before I could, he asked me if I was trying to get somewhere. I told him I was, that I needed to get to the Island of Macabee. He looked at me again and said "If you can win me a game of poker, I promise you I'll get you on a ship straight for Macble!"

So I played. And here I am now. That poor drunken sap is now my master, Cobalt Blu. In the past he was a master traveling magician. I'm sure he hasn't yet realized that I'm a woman. Actually, I don't think he even knows my name

I like swords and I'm a woman

Name's Dianne. Most of the rest of the world will know me as Dino, though. I mean, I'm half running away, half trying to make my mark on the world. Who ever said I had to do it as a woman? Actually, if I did it as a woman, then I'd have already been caught.

By the way... I'm a woman.

And I'm running away.

In case you didn't know.

Anyway, my dad used to own this really awesome armory. I used to help him make some of the shields and swords. It was the best thing I could ever ask for. He recently passed away, but there is this band of pirates after something of his. Something that was, obviously, entrusted to me, before my father dies.

From what I've heard, it could be a huge treasure, meant for me so I wouldn't have to worry about money issues. I don't really think it's that though. I've also heard that my father left me the ultimate weapon. (Now, that I might believe). Either way, all I have is a clue to go to the Island of Macabee and look for Tracabee.

Now, I have a series of problems:
1. I'm a woman... and everyone knows that Roland Myte only has one daughter
2. I have no idea who Tracabee was.
3. I don't know where the Island of Macabee was.
4. I don't know how to physically get across the ocean to the Island of Macabee
5. There ware pirates chasing after me!
6. Apparently there's a war a'brewin'.

Luckily I ran into a strange fellow... and now here I am. Out at sea. Dressed like a man. Acting as the page boy to a would-be traveling magician aboard the SS Matate. It wasn't until later that I realized that meant "kill yourself". Not to mention, we were sailing right in the middle of the battle between the Loyalists and the Revolutionaries.

Ban omen? probably
